Candy Shweder created Up-Island Pottery more than 20 years ago, throwing in her home studio on the island, and selling at the flea market in Chilmark, Martha's Vineyard. She studied ceramics at Lill Street Studio in Chicago; Foothill College in Palo Alto, California; and The Palo Alto Art Center. Candy was designated an Illinois Artisan in 1995. She divides her time between Chilmark and Chicago. Up-island Pottery has been featured in the Museum Shop of the American Craft Museum at both Rockefeller Center and Lincoln Center in New York City. Candy's work can be found at Artisan's 21, a cooperative gallery in Chicago that she has been involved with for 25 years. In the summers, she can be found twice a week at the Artisans Festivals in West Tisbury, Martha's Vineyard.
